Hi just came across your pod cast on itunes, really liked it, great job.
I loved the heads up about the music form each episode, much appreciated.
I will be tuning in again this week.
GG is becoming an alternative universe. There is a lot of scheming but little FUN and where is the love???
The writers have completely missed the point.
We want to know more about the characters, to make them more human not less. We want to like them not dislike then. Which you would think would go unsaid, but no!!! They are disregarding what made them great and reinventing the wheel, there is no continuity. They are a year older not in a different time zone!!! Chuck is written like a 45 yr old and Blair a 12 yr old.
Writers, directors, producers and actors need to concentrate on:
• Character development – likeability
• Sex appeal, heat, excitement, chemistry!!! – This is what we want, not farce.
• Realistic storylines.
• Bring back the glamour
• Allow scenes to develop organically rather than be over directed and rushed.
• In trying to say too much they are saying nothing at all. It is the silence between the dialogues that can speak the loudest. The odd touch, gesture or look.
• Aim to give us what we want!!!! Not what you think will prolong the show.
Blair/Leighton & Chuck/Ed: I am staring to think it wasn’t their great acting that made GG a success, but the real heat they felt for each other!!!
Ed is still acting his socks off and Blair is always a pleasure to watch, the ultimate professional, but it is not the same, something is missing.
Was it the tension between them that made it so intriguing? Series 1 they fancied each other, a nice combination of lust and admiration. Series 2 the question now, ‘was it love or lust?’ There were a lot of unanswered questions, other people were involved, thing’s were more complicated. If you look closely I think you can see their struggle. It was ‘good’ to watch, kept us interested, intrigued and wanting more.
The’ will they won’t they’ was nicely reconciled in the final episode for the characters but not the actors. I feel this is where there was a split. The love affair ended. Now Leighton is practically engaged to Sebastian and Ed is all loved up with Jessica, which maybe great for them as people, but not for our beloved Chair. I feel they have put a full stop to their own uncertainty and any possibility of them taking that initial attraction any further. This would be no ones business except it is showing on the screen, which is depressing and will ultimately be the end of GG, unless they can miraculously turn things around. The lack of love is making me sad. This is my take on the slow decline:
Series 1 – 80% lust, 15% love, 5% unsure
Series 2 – 40% lust, 35% love, 25% unsure
Series 3 – 70% unsure, 15% love, 15% lust
Their real lives are overshadowing the show. This conflict is affecting the believability of the show. I want them to let themselves feel the love and make me believe in the show once more.
