Are we too focused on the “end game” to enjoy Gossip Girl?

Word on the street is The CW might want to take a shot at another teen drama: the prequel to Sex and The City, The Carrie Dairies. This has brought up an interesting idea (and a great question of the week) of are fans too focused on the end game?

Do you remember Gossip Girl episode 2.24 – Valley Girls? That was primed to be the pilot for a Gossip Girl spin off about the young life of Lily Rhodes set in the 80s which is pretty much what The Carrie Diaries would be. While the episode was great, could it really work? Sometimes Gossip Girl fans can’t help but root for Lily and Rufus, so does knowing how the story turns out really make that big of a difference?

But on the other hand, are we so focused on the end game that we don’t enjoy the show as it’s going on? Are we too concerned at when Chuck and Blair are going to get together and stay together to enjoy the journey of Prince Louis, Dair or just Team Blair?

Are we too busy wanting Nate and Serena or Serena and Dan to finally be together instead of watching Serena jump from guy to guy until she actually decides? Maybe Serena won’t end up with Dan or Nate. Joey didn’t end up with Dawson in the series finale of Dawson’s Creek and Ryan definitely didn’t live his life happily ever after with Marissa on The OC.

So does the end game cloud our judgement and really keep us from enjoying our television shows? Let me know what you think in the comments. This will definitely be discussed on the podcast!

I am personally a Chair fan. But I think I am the only one who is enjoying Blair’s journey with the Prince. She said so herself that he makes her happy, and I am actually looking forward to the wedding planning and Blair’s vision about her dress and cake and all of that. I hope we get some really cute scenes between Blair her mom and Dorota. Chair fans are so focused on a Baby Bass and the baby could easily belong to the Prince (hopefully Blair is not pregnant). I hope the Prince sticks around for awhile. I am sure Chuck and Blair will find their way back. I personally do not see Dair going anywhere. I only see friendship between them. I hope they do become really good friends. They do have so much in common but they are so different. Blair’s heart will always belong to Chuck she may never love anyone else the way she does Chuck. But I can’t wait until Season 5. I am looking forward to the wedding planning and I enjoy the Prince.

I love Blair and Chuck but I love her with Dan and the Prince. I guess I just enjoy the story line I’m not so focused on end game. I mean in real life less then 10 percent of the people who dated when they were 19 date tons of other people then find there way back to one another. I’m interessted to see who everyone ends up with and if its someone i didnt expect I’m perfectly fine with that cause I rather have a well written show then a show poorly written to try and make the masses happy. P.S I want Taylor Momsen back i loved my Jenny ( more so jenny season 1 and two 3 girl wa crazy but i loved it) and my Kate Cassidy (that’s for you Missy ) cause seriorisly Juliet made season 4 awesome hands down my favorite guest star.

I think I’m a rabid GG fan and so are my friends and sister. We DO NOT like going a whole season with no Chuck and Blair. Chuck and Blair make the show. I watch the seasons of GG over and over from start to finish and I can tell you that nobody has the sexual chemistry of Chuck and Blair. How will Dair ever top Chair’s limo ride in season one, episode 7 to the tune of Sum 41′s With Me. The answer: THEY CAN’T. NEVER HAVE. NEVER WILL! Chuck and Blair are magnetic. In spite of everything that has gone down between them, they always seek each other out. Until now. The writers making Blair go with Dan and be with him for this long and tell Chuck she’s not “in love” with him is insane! I don’t know if I can wait it out to see if Chuck and Blair get back together. This last episode about did me in. I can’t say how much I hate what the writers have done with the show. Why would I even bother to add season 5 of GG to my collection? The writers are wasting Chuck’s sex appeal and we just see a teeny, tiny bit of the former confident, appealing character that Chuck once was. WTH? Bring Eva back for him, then let Blair get jealous and dump Humpty Dumpty and let Chuck and Eva be end game. He had chemistry with Eva.
