Episode #11: The Magnificent Archibalds
• It’s Thanksgiving on the Upper East Side. Blair is complaining about Cyrus taking over the penthouse. She wants the perfect Thanksgiving and Serena is going to help her make the pie since her dad isn’t going to be there. Serena is glad to help but she has to leave early because she is going to introduce Aaron to her parents before dinner. Blair compares Aaron to Bill Paxton and says Serena isn’t the girl to share a guy she likes.
• Dan shows up and asks Serena and Blair if they have seen Jenny. They don’t know where she is since she left Agnes’. Dan knows she’s been hanging out with Eric so he thought Serena would know where she is. Dan really wants Jenny home for the holiday. Dan and Serena share their pleasantries and go on.
• Dan literally runs into Nate but is very hostile toward him and so is Chuck. Chuck mentions something about enjoying watching Nate slum it with the Humphrey’s.
• Jenny and Eric are meeting with someone about her emancipation. They tell her they will launch an investigation into her parents to find signs of parental neglect. Jenny seems concerned, but takes the papers anyway.
• Dan invites Vanessa to Thanksgiving dinner since she will be spending it alone. Vanessa declines saying she really doesn’t want to see Jenny. Dan tells her Jenny isn’t going to be there. Vanessa immediately thinks Jenny will be spending the holiday with Nate, but Dan corrects her and tells her Jenny and Nate aren’t seeing each other anymore.
• Lily and Bart come back home a day early and no one is home. Lily receives a call from Rufus asking if Jenny is staying there. Lily says there is no way until she sees Jenny’s bags in the corner.
• Nate and his mom are staying at a friend’s apartment. Mrs. Archibald says they are running out of options. They go inside the apartment and the Captain is there waiting on them. Captain says his life in Dominica is great and asks them to come live with them. Mrs. Archibald wants to go only if Nate goes.
• Lily meets with Rufus about Jenny staying at her house. Lily is trying to play the mediator. Rufus says Jenny needs to be with family during the holiday and Lily says she will be with family…her family.
• Blair is talking to Serena on the phone about how glad she is to be home alone. Serena is at Aaron’s where he is cooking her dinner. Serena says everything is perfect except she asked him what he did that day and he said he spent it with a friend. Serena doesn’t really like the idea of sharing this guy.
• Eric tells Bart him and Jonathan are having problems. Bart tells Eric to ask Jonathan about spending time with some guy. Eric is confused at how Bart would know this so he goes to Chuck to find out. Chuck tells him Bart keeps a PI on retainer just like him.
• Aaron decides he wants to be exclusive with Serena and she is happy. She says if she would have known she would have brought some champagne to celebrate. Aaron says he’s glad she didn’t because he’s sober now and he wants to surround himself with good people who won’t tempt him to the dark side. Serena tells him she used to party but that was a long time ago and she wouldn’t be the girl to tempt him.
• At home, Lily confronts Eric about Jenny staying at the house.
• Cyrus is critiquing Blair’s pie. She doesn’t like that at all. She asks Eleanor why she is letting Cyrus ruin everything. Eleanor says Blair is always thinking the worst of people. She also says it’s not only about her. Thanksgiving is about family and this is their family now. Blair storms off and runs into Darota who tells her that Cyrus proposed to Eleanor at dinner.
• Lily and Jenny talk about Jenny’s relationship with Rufus. Lily tells her the place she needs to be is at home. Jenny says Lily doesn’t understand how Rufus was being. Lily says she can talk to her anytime and Jenny says thanks and she leaves. She leaves her purse behind and Lily sees the emancipation papers.
• Rufus and Dan are shopping. Dan tells Rufus he should tell Jenny that he misses her because that’s the only thing he hasn’t told her. They see Aaron and he’s trying to decide what cheese to bring to the Bass’ for dinner. Dan says Serena isn’t much a cheese girl and he should bring some wine. Aaron tells Dan that Serena doesn’t drink anymore and Dan goes on to spill the beans on Serena. Aaron seems really confused.
• Blair is upset because Eleanor won’t tell her what’s going on with the engagement. Blair doesn’t want to be lumped together with everyone else. Blair gets angry, tells Darota they are leaving and not going to dinner.
• Nate is returning a box set to Rufus at the gallery when he runs into Vanessa. He asks Vanessa to give the set to Rufus for him. Vanessa asks why he just didn’t take it by the loft. Nate says he’s alienated everyone and Dan doesn’t really like him anymore. They part ways, but Nate tells Vanessa to take care of herself.
• Serena is trying to hide her past from Aaron so she goes to Chuck to ask him to keep his mouth shut. Aaron shows up to Serena’s place a little apprehensive. He tells her what just happened with Dan. Serena says Dan is jealous and isn’t as over her as she thought. She tells him not to listen to anything that Dan says anymore.
• Lily calls Rufus frantic telling him to come over. Rufus tells Dan to cancel his plans with Vanessa because they are going to the Bass’.
• Meanwhile, an FBI agent stops Vanessa outside of the gallery to talk about Nate.
• Chuck and Eric break into Bart’s safe so Eric can get a hold of the PI file. Vanessa calls Chuck to talk about what just happened with the FBI and says Nate is in trouble. Chuck doesn’t seem to care, but Vanessa convinces him it’s serious. Chuck leaves Eric and just in time, Eric finds not only files on him but Serena and his mother.
• Darota is getting phone calls from Eleanor. Blair demands that she not answer her phone. Darota suggests since they aren’t going to dinner they go feed the ducks at the boat pond.
• Lily is meeting Aaron and offers Serena some wine. Serena says no but Lily is still insistent. Serena says she’s only 17 but Lily says that’s never stopped her before. Serena sharply says no thank you. Eric and Jenny are upstairs in Bart’s office talking about all the info Bart has on them. Jenny asks if he read the other files, but he says no. Jenny then asks Eric if he’s seen the emancipation papers. She can’t find them and she doesn’t want anyone else to see them.
• Rufus and Dan show up. Dan is greeted by Aaron who is calling him a liar. Dan says he hasn’t lied about anything. Serena tries to talk to Dan aside, but he sees something in Serena’s expression and admits to lying to cover for Serena. Aaron tells him if he has a problem with him dating his ex he should say something. Aaron then leaves to go meet the Waldorf’s. Serena apologizes to Dan and Dan tells her she needs to be honest with Aaron. Around there, the truth always comes out.
• Vanessa, Chuck and the FBI agent meet with Nate. Vanessa tells him the FBI knows the Captain is back in town and they think he’s going to commit an even bigger crime. Chuck tells him the Captain is going to commit extortion and kidnapping to get money from the Vanderbilts. Vanessa and Chuck try to convince him to turn his father in.
• Jenny tells Rufus everything that has been going on with her. Rufus says he’s out of anger and he misses her. He also says he loves her and nothing she does will ever change that. He won’t stand in her way when it’s time for a court hearing. If he has to let her go to get her back, then he’s going to do. Jenny says she’s sorry and walks away.
• Dan and Rufus leave to find Jenny. Lily shows Bart the files and she’s upset. She says she could handle it but she doesn’t think it’s right he did that to the kids. She leaves with Eric and Serena and tells Bart Thanksgiving is a day for family so she’s going to spend her day with her family.
• Nate confronts the Captain about holding them for ransom. The Captain doesn’t deny it; the look on his face tells it all. The Captain says it’s for all of them to get their life back. Nate tells him to be a man and turn himself in because he’s tired of living in the mess he created for them.
• Eric and Lily eat at the diner. Eric says he lied about reading her file. He says he knows that Lily was in an institution like Eric. Eric is understanding and tells her when she’s ready to talk he’ll be there to listen.
• Eleanor is looking for Blair when Serena shows up. They ask her to call Blair because she is ignoring their calls, so she sends Blair a text. Serena went there looking for Aaron to give him her file to read. She asks him to read it so he knows if he still wants to be with her. Blair text back and Serena tells Eleanor and Cyrus where Blair is.
• Blair sees Jenny on the street. Jenny tells Blair what is going on. Blair tells Jenny she is lucky to have a family and a dad that cares for her. Blair says her family doesn’t even care if she’s there with them. Jenny tells Blair that Eleanor loves her in her own way. Then Eleanor shows up and Jenny tells Blair she is wrong about her family. Eleanor tells her it’s time for her to come home. Blair says she’ll go home only if Jenny goes home too. Eleanor agrees and takes Jenny home.
• The Captain going to turn himself in. He’s hugging both of them. Nate’s mom tries to stop him and doesn’t understand what is going on. Nate holds his mom back and tells her everything will be ok. After the Captain is taken in, the remaining Archibald’s get their house back. That is where Vanessa and Chuck show up to talk to Nate. Vanessa says she didn’t want him to go and she almost admits she still like him. Nate asks if they could get together sometime so Vanessa tells him to call her. Chuck is glad he stayed too and they become friends again.
• When Blair gets home she sees her dad is there for the holidays. Blair is surprised. Eleanor says she wanted Harold to meet Cyrus first before she said anything about the engagement. They are a happy family again and they celebrate by eating the famous Waldorf pie.
• Rufus and Dan return home hoping to find Jenny. At first glance, she’s not there, until she steps out of the dark. She tells him she doesn’t want to not be his daughter.
• Aaron goes to visit Serena and he says he doesn’t want to read it the file. She can tell him anything herself and he wants to be with her no matter what she’s done.
• Lily show’s up to Rufus’s for dinner. Vanessa comes to eat too. Jenny and Vanessa talk about the situation with Nate. Jenny apologizes for the Nate situation and says she doesn’t think Nate really liked her anyway. Vanessa says their friendship is more important than a guy. The go back with the rest of the group and Dan points out Jenny’s mail. Jenny is going to look through it, but Rufus asks her to help look for the marshmallows. Vanessa is standing there and sees the letter from Nate. She puts the letter in her purse and excuses herself from the table to read it in the bathroom.
• Bart is sitting outside the Humphrey loft on the phone with his PI. He says he wants him to find out why Lily was in the sanatorium.
