Episode #12: A Wonderful Lie
- It’s time for the Snowflake Charity Ball on the Upper East Side. Blair is trying to pick her date from a massive list of guys who have already asked her and Chuck is mocking every guy on the list. Apparently the ball is the winter event for every senior on the Upper East Side.
- Serena tells Dan she got Aaron a book for Hanukah. It’s the book Dan recommended to her when they dated, Letters To A Young Poet. Aaron isn’t taking Serena to the ball. Serena is surprised Dan is even going. He says the best events of his life in the past two years have come from those events. They agree to hang out together at the ball. Serena invites Dan to the gallery to check out Aaron’s new installation.
- Jenny is keeping herself busy by reorganizing Rufus’ record collection by genre. Vanessa comes to talk to her. Jenny says she wants to keep going to avoid thinking about her future and what happened with Nate. Vanessa says from her experience it’s best for Jenny to move on from Nate. Vanessa gets a call from Nate and leaves quickly.
- Penelope commissions Jenny to make a dress for her to wear to the ball. Haze and Iz keep biting her style and she wants something original. Jenny doesn’t want to do it, but Penelope is willing to pay the money for it so Jenny agrees.
- Aaron is showing his new installation to Lexie, his ex girlfriend, at the gallery when Dan and Serena show up. She is really dissing Serena calling her a blonde bombshell and other things.
- Rufus is helping Lily plan the ball. Rufus asks if she’s talked to Bart since Thanksgiving and she says she hasn’t exactly made herself available. Rufus tells her she has to talk to him.
- Nate and Vanessa are making out when a girl snaps of picture of them for Gossip Girl. Nate invites her to the snowflake ball. Vanessa says she doesn’t want to go because of Jenny. Nate tells her Jenny blew him off and she doesn’t care about him.
- Penelope wants to ask Nate to the ball and wants to know what happened with Jenny and Nate. Jenny says nothing happened and Penelope seems to be glad about that. Both of their cell phones go off at the same time and they see the picture of Vanessa and Nate kissing on Gossip Girl.
- Bart tells Lily he fired the PI and apologizes for everything. He says that he can change. Lily says she appreciates it but it’s not enough. Bart wants to know what else he can do because he will do it to make things better.
- Aaron tells Serena that Lexi is just protecting him and what she said isn’t personal. He wants Serena to give her a chance because they are friends. Serena gives in and Aaron finally agrees to go to the ball with her. Meanwhile, Dan is macking Lexie at the coffee counter. He invites her to go on a walking tour of Brooklyn and Lexie invites Serena and Aaron. Serena reluctantly agrees to go.
- Vanessa goes by to visit Jenny and Jenny confronts her about Nate. They fight back and forth trading insults. In her last attempt to stick it to Jenny, Vanessa tells her Nate invited her to the ball and she’s going to go.
- Chuck wants to prove he knows Blair better than anyone else and agrees to pick her date. In return, Blair gets to pick his date too. If Chuck likes his date, Blair gets his limo for a month. If Blair likes hers, Chuck gets Darota.
- The foursome takes their tour of Brooklyn and Dan suggests they double date to the snowflake ball. Aaron asks Serena if she’s ok with it and she says she’s good as long as Dan is good with it. Aaron says Dan should be ok with it because Lexie likes to sleep with guys on the first date.
- Chuck doesn’t think it’s a good idea for Bart to leave right now with his marriage in such bad shape. Bart says Thanksgiving was a disaster thanks to him. He knows Chuck let Eric into the safe. Bart blames Chuck for the files getting out.
- Jenny brings the dress to Penelope. The girls from the steps are upset because Nate is with Vanessa and take it out on Jenny, until Jenny says Vanessa isn’t her friend. Penelope is trying to find a way to send Vanessa a message. Iz comes out to model her dress, which is completely see through, and Penelope develops a plan. She wants Jenny to give Vanessa the dress.
- Blair is excited for picking her date for Chuck. Serena tells her it’s not that great seeing your ex with someone else. Serena tells her about Lexie having sex on the first date and asks if she should warn Dan. Blair tells her no and basically tells her to enjoy her time with Aaron. Serena admits she hasn’t had sex with Aaron yet because she’s taking things slow.
- Jenny brings the dress to Vanessa. She says she’s still mad but felt bad about the things she said so she stayed up all night making the dress. Vanessa says it was nice of her to make her the dress. She also admits to being jealous of Jenny and Dan growing up always having each other. She tries to tell Jenny something, but is interrupted when she gets a call from Nate. Jenny tells her she doesn’t need to explain anything to her and leaves.
- Blair is upset with Darota because she’s not picking a suitable date for Chuck. Blair describes the type of person it should be and Darota comments that person sounds like Blair.
- Dan calls Serena to ask her if it’s ok that he’s going to the ball with Lexie. Serena says it’s fine because they’ve outgrown past issues. After hanging up, Aaron comes out modeling his tux for Serena. She thanks him for taking her to the ball and says she will thank him later.
- Lily calls Bart’s assistant to tell her she is waiting on Bart to take her to the ball. The assistant tells her he has a meeting with Andrew Tyler. Lily figures out Bart has a meeting with the PI and calls the assistant back to let her know Bart doesn’t need to come to ball.
- At the ball, Penelope reveals her plan on how to get Vanessa to the girls.
- Chuck is talking to another girl, Nastia Liukin, who he mistakes as his date until Blair steps in. She introduces Chuck to his date that closely resembles Blair. Chuck reveals Blair’s date that looks like him also. They set aside to bicker back and forth about how they are perfect for each other and how they will like their look-a-likes. They both agree the bet is still on.
- Lexie and Dan dance. They seem like they are having a good time until she tells him that Serena green lit sex for that night with Aaron. Dan seems a little shocked but he says he’s cool with it.
- Lily finds Rufus at the ball and tells him she is leaving Bart. She’s doing it for herself and she doesn’t expect anything…except for a dance.
- Dan asks Serena to dance. He tells her he knows about her plans and asks if there is anything she wants to talk about. She says there’s nothing really to say. Serena then tells him Lexie was planning on seducing him later. Dan seems surprised. They get into a conversation about sex being meaningful which makes Serena upset.
- Vanessa tells Jenny she is ending things with Nate. She says she never wanted to hurt Jenny. Jenny tries to stop the prank but Vanessa is very adamant about telling Nate she took the letter. Vanessa tells Nate she’s never felt that way about anyone before and it was wrong to take the letter but she did. Nate is stunned. When she walks away, Hazel cues the spotlight and Vanessa there for everyone to see in her see thru dress. Everyone is laughing at her.
- Nate finds Jenny to ask if did that to Vanessa. He says Vanessa really didn’t deserve that. She lied and went behind her back, but she is still Jenny’s friend. Nate tells her about the letter and how Vanessa stole it, but he says he’s glad Jenny never got it. She’s not the person he thought she was.
- Chuck and Blair can’t find their dates but eventually find them making out in the corner. Blair is upset because her and Chuck can’t work it out to be together after seeing that.
- Lily talks to Rufus about the direction her life is going. She says she always tried to do the right things. She hates to break up the family like that because everyone has grown attached. Lily then asks Rufus to tell her something he shouldn’t and he does. He says he let her go on her wedding day and he’s regretted it everyday since.

- Bart is in the limo with the PI guy and come to find out Bart really did fire him. Andrew Tyler says Bart gave him a final assignment and he completed it and there is information he should want to know. Bart receives a phone call from Chuck who witnessed everything between Rufus and Lily and tells him to get down there quickly. Bart turns to Andrew and asks him what he knows.
- Chuck goes to Lily to tell her she owes Bart a conversation. He also says that she was good for Bart and she was good for all of them.
- Nate stops Vanessa from leaving. He wants to know if she has more secrets and asks if she really meant what she said about never will that way before. He said when she walked away from him all he was thinking was, “she’s the one I want to be with.” Vanessa is happy and they leave together. Jenny stood in the shadows watching.
- Penelope is upset Jenny tried to help Vanessa. Jenny tells her she doesn’t know what is more pathetic the fact she was scared of them or wanted to be one of them. She also says Vanessa is ten times the person she is. Hazel comments that it’s easy to talk big when you’re hiding out in Brooklyn but Jenny says maybe she should change that.
- Chuck asks Blair to dance, but Blair asks what’s the point because they’ll never be like everyone else. Chuck says he wouldn’t want to change them if it meant losing what they have. He tells her, “We have tonight, shut up and dance with me.”
- Lexi wants to hang out with Dan alone but Dan doesn’t want to leave without Serena and Aaron. When they find them, Serena apologizes for how she acted and she didn’t want to go off without clearing the air. Dan says when they had sex it was meaningful and the greatest night of his life and she says the same for her. But Lily interrupts them looking for Chuck. Bart’s been in an accident!
