3.09 – They Shoot Humphreys, Don’t They?

As Jenny prepares to make her society debut at the annual Cotillion, her insecurities resurface. She may have conquered Constance but she’s concerned about being the Queen of the whole Upper East Side. In hopes of accomplishing her goal, she tries to secure the most sought-after date and even tries to rekindle her friendship with Eric. Eric, meanwhile, isn’t willing to forgive Jenny, and teams with Blair to make sure that hot date goes with someone else. They pull it off, leaving Jenny stunned and disappointed but her quick-thinking leads to a debut with the one-and-only Nate Archibald on her arm. Everyone is impressed, including Blair, but Eric secretly vows that he’s going to do whatever it takes to take Jenny down. Jonathan breaks up with him upon realizing he’s acting just as badly as Jenny was.

Chuck and Nate are concerned when neither Blair nor Serena show any interest in resuming their friendship. They scheme and trap the two in elevator, refusing to turn the power back on until they resolve their differences. When Serena reveals she went searching for her father and is struggling with the insecurities she has because of their relationship, Blair softens up and the two reconcile.

Serena also reveals that she’s now working in Tripp Vanderbilt’s office, but she’s always had a crush on him and he’s kind of flirting with her. She’s uncomfortable by the situation, particularly when Blair says she’s appalled by it. After promising Blair she won’t let anything happen between them, she goes to resign but Tripp convinces her to stay on and Serena ends up ditching Blair.

Olivia finds out she has to leave NYU to film another sequel to her vampire films. Dan and Vanessa vow to spend the weekend making sure she does all the college cliches. They work their way through a list until one remains: having a threesome. With very little talking and a lot of alcohol, the three embark on the sexual activity with some kissing. Next thing you know, they’re all sleeping in bed together–apparently naked.
