Meanwhile, Chuck Bass is as we’ve never seen him before, adjusting to a fresh start in Paris with a mysterious new woman, Eva (guest star Clémence Poésy), at his side. Juliet (guest star Katie Cassidy) offers to help Nate (Chace Crawford) win Serena (Blake Lively) back, suggesting that reigniting Dan (Penn Badgley) and Vanessa’s (Jessica Szohr) romance may just be the trick to remove Dan from the Dan-Serena-Nate love triangle. Matthew Settle also stars. Mark Piznarski directed the episode written by executive producers Joshua Safran and Stephanie Savage (#401).

Juliet offers to be Nate’s life coach for 24 hrs. She promises at the end of the 24 hr period he will be in the place where he’s making the choice. First task as life coach is eliminating the competition which just happens to be Dan.

Eva doesn’t want him to go because she’s going to miss spend all day with him. But Chuck’s strong work ethic is still there even though he’s living among modest means.
Dan is singing a song to Milo about Jenny when Juliet and Nate show up. Dan is having a hard time taking care of Milo by himself so Juliet offers to take Milo while Nate gets the information they need to know. Is Dan still interested in Serena? Dan hasn’t heard from Serena and doesn’t know that she is going to Columbia until Nate tells her. When Dan walks away, Nate takes a peak at Dan’s phone to see that Serena sent him a text saying they needed to talk. Nate immediately thinks Dan was lying to him about being in contact with Serena. Juliet tells Nate that Dan is playing a game with him.
Chuck walks to work and Blair’s cab driver stops in the middle of the street. They make eye contact and both are stunned. “What are you doing? Suddenly we’re stopping for pedestrians?” Blair says to her driver and he drives off.

Juliet tells Nate that Vanessa still cares for Dan and she was hurt after the whole Serena thing, but she’s looking for a sign that things could work out between her and Dan. Nate isn’t comfortable with using Vanessa as a way to get Dan out of the equation but he still does it.
Serena tells Blair that she went to the morgue to identify Chuck’s body, but luckily it wasn’t his. Blair knows because she saw Chuck walking earlier and she thinks it’s just another one of Chuck’s games. Serena doesn’t think so though because Blair mentioned that Chuck was limping and then there is the blood on the wallet. She thinks Chuck might be hurt, but Blair thinks Chuck is just stalking her. “Gossip girl said I was in Paris, where else would he be?” Serena asks Blair to go with her to find the truth, but Blair is preparing for her date and says she doesn’t care about what Chuck is doing. Blair also says that she can’t talk to him; it was painful enough just seeing him.
Chuck is working at Eva’s uncle’s bar and Eva shows up. She wants Chuck to leave, but he still wants to stay and work. But the uncle grants Chuck the rest of the day off. Eva thinks Chuck is mad at her, but he’s really just disturbed at seeing Blair this morning. Chuck says he could live anywhere with her and be happy.

Serena is looking for Chuck all around Paris and she ends up at his place of employment. Eva’s uncle identifies him but says his name is Henry, not Chuck. Back at their apartment, Chuck gives Eva some money. He claims that his grandfather left him a small inheritance which means they should have more than enough money to leave and start over again. Eva gets up to pack and Serena knocks on the door. When Chuck answers she is very happy to see him, but he’s not happy to see her. He pretends he doesn’t know her and shuts the door in her face.
Blair is on her date with the Prince and they are doing things that a common person would do. The Prince is very interested in Blair and invites her to a ball with his parents that night. Blair is really living her fairytale now.
Dan wakes up to Vanessa taking care of everything. She even says that Milo needs a nursery. Dan says that he’s missed Vanessa and is grateful that she has been there helping, especially after everything he put her through with the Serena situation. Dan and Vanessa kiss, which eventually leads to a hook up. When it’s over, Vanessa says she should thank Nate. Dan is confused but Vanessa tells him that Nate told her about Dan’s true feelings for her. Dan puts two and two together and realizes this is about the Serena situation.
Serena waits for Chuck at his apartment. She tells him that people may be mad at him but he doesn’t need to disappear to change it. She tells him he needs to go home or he’ll lose everything, but he says that he already lost everything. Serena tells him that he can’t turn his back on who he really is, but Chuck doesn’t care. “After today, there is no Chuck Bass.”
When Serena returns home Blair is gushing about her date. “We walked, we talked, we laughed. I’d forgotten how great it is just to have fun with a guy.” Serena tells Blair about Chuck but doesn’t want it to interfere with her date. She tells Blair that she doesn’t need to worry about Chuck.
Juliet is trying to get Nate a date with someone fabulous so it doesn’t look like Nate has been pining away all summer for Serena. Nate that thought the point was to make him available, but Juliet says no. She just wanted to eliminate the competition but she wants to make Serena jealous. Nate says Serena isn’t going to get jealous over any hot girl. Nate seems like he has another plan. Nate then gets a text from Serena.
The prince sent over people to do Blair’s hair and plenty of dresses to choose from. Someone comes to pick up Blair to take her to Harry Winston. Right before she leaves, Serena texts her saying they might need to worry about Chuck. Chuck signed over everything to Lily, including the hotel. Blair doesn’t answer and goes on with her date. Serena receives a phone call and she thinks it’s from Blair, but it’s not. It’s the Paris police detective, he has more information on Chuck.
Blair can’t make a choice between all the beautiful jewelry until she spots a ring. She knows that it’s too soon for the Prince to be giving her a ring, but it’s perfect, “clarity, karats, charisma”. At the moment Blair is admiring the ring, Serena and the detective show up to tell Blair that ring belonged to Chuck and he just recently sold it. Serena tells Blair that Chuck was going to propose to her on top of the Empire State Building and he fought to keep that ring. He was even shot for it and that was the first time Blair finds out that Chuck was shot.
Nate goes to talk to Dan and says that he’s sorry for lying to Vanessa, but he and Vanessa were connecting so it couldn’t be such a bad thing. Nate says he thought that he had lied to him about the text which Dan still hasn’t gotten because he’s been too busy taking care of Milo. Vanessa walks in on the conversation and realizes everything was about Serena. She feels stupid for believing Nate.
Serena tells Blair that he signed everything over to Lily and that she is the only one who can stop Chuck from disappearing. He wants to change his name and leave. Blair says she just can’t. Serena tells Blair that she doesn’t have to forgive him, but she can’t sit by and do nothing as Chuck disappears. Blair would regret it if she did.
Lily did a nursery make over to Milo in Jenny’s old room. Dan and Nate talk on the rooftop where Nate admits he doesn’t know how he feels about Serena. Dan says it feels right with Vanessa and all the problems from before just seem so small now. Serena is coming back tomorrow and neither boy knows what they want to do.
Blair goes to the train station to talk to Chuck and passes by Eva. Eva said she knew it was too good to be true and wants to know who Blair is. Blair tells Chuck just because he’s dressed poorly doesn’t mean he’s not Chuck Bass. He should have told her that he got shot because she would want to know if he was ever hurt. She also tells him that changing his name doesn’t change who his is, but Chuck says he wants to become a respectable man; a man people will love. Blair says that someone did love him and he owes it to her and everyone else that he is leaving behind to go back. Chuck says that he destroyed the only thing that he ever loved and Blair gives him back the ring. Blair says she doesn’t love him anymore, but her world wouldn’t be right without Chuck in it.
Serena is back in New York and goes straight to loft to see her mom. Blair calls her from Paris and tells Serena that talking to Chuck made her realize what she wants. Serena says she hopes that she gets it.
Juliet and Nate talk and she apologizes for everything. She didn’t mean to take over his life and cause more problems. She says that she wants to apologize to Dan too, so they head off to Brooklyn.
Dan talks to Vanessa and says that he’s happy that yesterday happened. Even with knowing that Serena was coming home the only thing he could think about was making things right with Vanesa. Dan chooses Vanessa.
Blair decides not to choose the Prince. She said she was using this fairytale to hide from her life on the Upper East Side. Blair creates her own fairytale and gives The Prince her shoe and tells him to come find her one day. She walks off wearing just one shoe, creating a funny moment.
When Serena asks about Dan and Nate they magically show up, but with their women. When Nate sees Serena he reaches for Juliet’s hand. Serena looked happier to see Dan than she did to see Nate. The whole world changed while Serena was gone and she doesn’t seem right in the new world. She realized that neither of the boys waited on her while she was gone, like she expected. They chose first is what she sends back to Blair when she asked if Serena made her decision.
Nate is ready to start something with Juliet. He says she seemed really happy when Nate grabbed her hand, but Juliet says that he’s only been over Serena for 7 minutes. He’s not ready for her yet.
Rufus finds Milo’s baby bracelet and finds out that Milo has 0 Negative blood which would make it impossible for Milo to be Dan’s baby because Dan in AB Positive. Rufus had come to accept Milo as his grandson until he saw this.
Juliet is taking down her freaky stalker board and talking to someone on the phone. She says she had to improvise the plan a little. She says that they need to talk about what is next and that she misses whoever it is on the phone and to hang in there. Juliet leaves Serena’s mug shot on the board though.
Chuck has decided to be Chuck Bass again. He apologizes to Eva for everything that he’s done and asks her to return to New York with him. He tells her that when she pulled his body out of the alley she not only saved his life, but gave him a chance at a new one. “We don’t need tickets. I’m Chuck Bass.”
