The Recap:
This week Gossip Girl doesn’t want us to forget that Eva loved Chuck before she knew he was Chuck Bass. This point was made over and over throughout the episode so of course the climatic moment would again involve some variation of this line and Blair crying.

Things are happening on the Upper East Side with our leading ladies. Blair wants to break Chuck and Eva of their new found happiness and Serena is Gossip Girl stalking Nate and Juliet and secretly hoping Dan and Vanessa will meet their relationship end. The girls make a pact with each other to stay clear of their prey, which means not going to Chuck’s charity gala.

Chuck really has become a changed man. He’s giving away money like it’s going out of style. He even buys Eva a very expensive Cartier watch Eva is really changing him into a better man. Chuck will be giving away $5 million at the charity event, but the lucky charity is unknown.

Blair really wants to squash Chuck’s happiness and things she has the opportunity when she spots Eva selling her watch at Cartier. Blair thinks something is up with “little miss perfect” and brings the situation to Chuck. Eva admits to selling the watch to help Ivan, the valet, pay for his mother’s house. Eva couldn’t wear something so decadent when it could save someone from losing their home. The plan backfires on Blair. Instead of getting mad, Chuck decides to let Eva choose what charity will get the money.

Meanwhile, Dan is trying to avoid talking about his issues with losing Milo and Vanessa is doing her best to help, but he just won’t talk to her. Rufus and Lily can’t even break through over breakfast. Dan, uncomfortable with the situation, leaves to hang out with Nate, or he says, but ends up at Serena’s for a fun day of nothing serious.

Nate thinks Juliet is hiding something from him. She won’t take him to her apartment and she’s hard to make plans with. Chuck thinks Juliet is seeing someone else which leads Nate to dig a little deeper. When Gossip Girl reveals that Juliet was out when she said she was too busy to spend time with Nate, things start to go south for the couple.

Blair wants to find out everything about Eva to dig up dirt on her past and she’s using Dan and Serena to help. Every time Blair finds out something about Eva, she texts it back to Serena and Dan does the googling to find out more. Dan reads into one of the clues which brought him to the Red Light district of Prague and he finds out that Eva is a prostitute with a “webpage and price list.”

Dan admits he lied to Vanessa about going to Nate’s place because he didn’t want to face Vanessa. Things have been weird since she moved in and he keeps pressuring him to talk about his feelings. He doesn’t think Vanessa is convinced he is over Serena which may be true because Dan thinks Vanessa might be right.

When Blair returns home to Serena and Dan they spill that Eva is a prostitute. Blair is overly happy to hear this because she spent the whole day with Eva thinking she was a saint. Blair has a big plan to out Eva at Chuck’s charity gala, but Serena thinks Blair should pull him aside to tell him not so publicly. Blair warns Dan this information should not be leaked because it must be deployed expertly. But Dan doesn’t follow that advice and tells Nate who then tells Chuck. Chuck pretends like he already knew and Nate is relieved. But it’s obvious Chuck had no idea.

Vanessa went to Nate’s to kidnap Dan, but of course he wasn’t there. Nate covered for Dan, but Vanessa didn’t buy it. Juliet takes Vanessa to get some cookies and asks Vanessa why would Dan lie to her? Vanessa says Dan is going through a hard time and went to the one person he knew would be there for him. Vanessa is afraid to confront Dan because that could push him right into Serena’s arms. Juliet thinks Vanessa should confront Serena instead and she wants her to do it at Chuck’s gala.

To follow through with her plan, Blair decides to go to Gala and Serena decides she wants Dan which means she must go too. But first she needs to secure Dan as her date. Looks like the whole gang is going to the gala.

At the Gala, Nate, Juliet and Vanessa arrive together. When the girls go to the powder room, Juliet leaves her coat with Nate. She receives a text message from Ben saying he needs to see her right away. That confirms to Nate that Juliet is dating someone else. But Juliet tries to tell Nate the truth, but he doesn’t listen. Juliet says she is not dating Ben, but Nate leaves before she could explain. When they finally meet up again, Juliet says that Ben is her brother and he’s very troubled. She’s not ready to tell Nate everything right now, but she won’t let Ben get between them. Nate accepts this because he doesn’t exactly live with clean closets either.

Lily is there, of course, with all of Chuck’s papers from Paris. She just received them from the Paris police. Serena tells her to give the papers to Ivan, Chuck’s valet, to take upstairs for him.

Blair confronts Chuck about Eva, but he doesn’t want to hear it. Eva has already come clean to him and he’s accepted it. He just doesn’t want him lying to him again. That’s when Chuck is called to the lectern. He decides to give the money to a foundation run by Eva so she could disperse the money properly. Blair is very upset about this and comes up with Plan B. She goes to Ivan to get Chuck’s passport from the things Lily dropped off. Her plan is the frame Eva. In his speech, Chuck spoke again how Eva loved him before she knew he was Chuck Bass, but Blair wants to show him that Eva did know he was Chuck Bass. She hides Chuck’s passport in Eva’s luggage.

When Eva finds out what Blair is done, it’s too late. Chuck won’t believe anything Eva has to say. She denies having the passport, but Chuck thinks Eva has lied too much. Chuck is ashamed because he told her everything and she did nothing but lie to her. Eva says she will leave and Chuck isn’t stopping her. Chuck also says Eva can leave only with the things she came with.

Dan and Serena finally meet up to tell each other how they feel, but Vanessa comes in angry. She tells Dan that Serena texted both him and Nate when she was arriving home. Dan may have chosen her, but he should be sure Serena is choosing him back. Vanessa says she’s always loved Dan. Dan is thrown for a loop. When he talks to Serena he finds out that Serena was trying to choose between him and Nate. Dan walks about because some people, like Vanessa, don’t have to choose. Dan realizes he made a mistake. When he returns home, Vanessa is still there. Dan admits to being heartbroken that Milo is gone, but he loves Vanessa. He doesn’t regret any decision he made about Milo and doesn’t regret having her move in.

Blair goes to check on Chuck and he’s devastated. He’s down and thinks he’s a fool for thinking someone good would ever love him. Chuck somehow ends up talking to Lily who tells him about the things she dropped off from the police. This is the point where Chuck realizes that Blair planted the passport and he goes after Eva. But this time, Eva doesn’t want to hear it. She’s hurt that Chuck believed Blair over her. She says Blair and Chuck are both liars and they are still connected to each other. Chuck tries to get Eva to stay but she insists on going. But she leaves him with this: “You’re Chuck Bass. That means something different now. Don’t forget it and don’t forget me.”

In the closing sequence, Serena realizes she needs to find someone that gives her what she loved about Nate and Dan, but in one person. Chuck comes to visit Blair and asks if there’s any possibility that she still loved him. But Blair says she could never forgive him and Chuck is upset that Blair did this just to hurt him. He’s upset that she drove away the only person that loved him. Eva made him into someone he was proud to be. Chuck says this brought back his old self and now it’s war. When Chuck returns to the hotel, he fires Ivan.

And lastly Juliet takes Nate back to her apartment, but it’s not her place. The doorman gives her a key and tells her the owners will be back tomorrow.
