We’re talking about the 100th episode of Gossip Girl this week on TGAD. Can you believe it? It’s been 100 episodes of the show! Congrats to all the people who have worked on Gossip Girl all this time and will continue to in the future. We may not have liked what happened in 5.13 – GG but we can’t deny it was a great episode. This week on Gossip Girl we celebrate 100 episodes of the show…and man did the writers write up a doozie. There were literally elements of the Gossip Girl past from things done in the story to the actual story telling. And Gossip Girl fans surely did exchange words about this epic episode of Gossip Girl. There’s only one thing you really need to know in summary about this episode: Blair actually married Louis but ran off with Dan.

So now let’s take it to lists:
So Scandalous

• Father Cavalia trying to sabotage Blair’s wedding by bring Chuck to the dark side. But Chuck saves the day by giving Father Cavalia a touch of Montezuma’s revenge.  Chuck: “I hope you can find a restroom soon.  One where the line isn’t too long.”
• Princess Sophie is shocked Blair made it to this day. Princess Sophie: “But all relationships are a business deal.  Sometimes if you’re lucky you have love as a bonus.”
• Georgina is back…. And ready to plan a scheme to ruin Blair’s wedding day. “That bitch got me remanded to rehab, banished from bible camp and abandoned in Belarus.  All for her own enjoyment.”
• Blair having a panic attack before the wedding.  It’s about time she started to feel something for this weeding.
• Georgina trying to seduce the Prince so Blair will not marry him.
• Blair thinking she will grow to love Louis.
• Blair running away from the alter.  And then again from the reception…to Dan.
• Georgina speaking the truth with her witty lines, why can’t she be around more often? “I never said I was innocent. I just like to watch.”
• Blair and Louis still getting married after the release of the blast of her telling Chuck her true feelings. Blair: “We’ve made it, finally.”
• Dan trying to pin the Gossip Girl blast on Chuck. Don’t you think Dan totally did it?
• Carol made her daughter real Charlie switch places with Chivy, what type of scheme is Carol running, or does Charlie/Lola know that her mother hired Chivy? Especially since she’s catering parties on the UES.
• Louis has turned evil and trapped Blair into a loveless marriage. I guess a man can only take so much humiliation from Blair and her scandalous way. “From this moment forward there is nothing between us but a contract.  Our marriage is all for show and you’re going to put on the best damn show anyone ever has.”
• Everybody tried to stop Blair from marrying the Prince. Even her own mother wanted Chuck to stop the wedding but Blair just would not listen.
• Blair questioning Louis about marrying someone he does not love. Did she not just do the same exact thing? Blair: “Why would you want to be married to someone you don’t love?”
• So Georgina is Gossip Girl, and she caught the bouquet. Has she been Gossip Girl this whole entire time? Is that even POSSIBLE?

So Sweet

• Pret-A-Potty!  What a great name for a Johnny on the spot!
• Dorota being so excited about Blair’s wedding. Dorota: “I smile and cry at the same time all morning.”
• Gossip Girl remembers Nate and Blair use to be a thing.
• Louis is so happy Blair is going to marry him. Louis: “Can you believe it? She’s marrying me.  I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
• Eleanor thinks she has forgotten something, little does she know it’s the groom.
• Blair and Serena bonding, it’s about time.  Blair told Serena to go after Dan before messing things up again.  And Blair saying Dan looked at Serena “Like he was starving and you were a tasting menu.”
• It’s so good to see Milo again.
• Chuck doing whatever it takes for Blair to have a perfect wedding day, Chuck truly has changed.
• Nate meeting his new love interest, little does he know that is the real Charlie.
• Nate remembers he wanted to marry Blair.
• Blair, Eleanor, Dorota and Serena when will we get more moments like this.
• Eleanor wanting Chuck to be the groom on Blair’s wedding day and wanting Chuck to stop the wedding. Eleanor: “Are you going to stop this thing or what?”
• How beautiful was this wedding? Blair did know how to throw a good party.
• Blair and Chuck having a heart to heart on her wedding day! Why can’t these two just be together already? Blair: “Just know that not living with you is the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
• And then there was Serena who was ready to run with Blair. Serena: “Are you sure you’re all right with all this because I’m totally prepared to fun for it with if that’s what you want.” That’s a true friend right there.
• Serena talking some sense into Blair, if only she would listen. Serena: “Don’t enter into a false life because you’re afraid to face your real one.”
• Blair having both oh her dads walking down the aisle. Blair: “Oh Cyrus, one dad is not enough.”
• Blair really does look happy walking down the aisle and the music was perfect in that moment.
• Chuck is a standup guy and forever held his peace. Wait, is this a sweet thing?
• Serena finally told Dan the truth about how she feels. Serena: “I love you Dan Humphrey. Always have, always will.”

So Not Real

• A Bride going to her final fitting on her wedding day? Shouldn’t that have already been done?
• Dan being in the wedding party just because he helped write the vows…and Serena needed a date.
• A rehearsal breakfast on the morning of the wedding? There would have been no time for this on the big day.
• Blair and Nate don’t have one moment together in this episode; they were the ones who were going to get married.
• As if Georgina is not on some type of list of people to keep out of the church. Where is the royal security?
• Plus, Georgina lives in Brooklyn? Why not the UES?  And why haven’t we seen more of Georgina if she’s just in Brooklyn?
• We did not get to witness the scene between Serena telling Chuck the truth, why did we not get to see Chucks instant reaction?
• Phones being allowed inside of a royal wedding.  There would have been really tight security going on here to stop pictures from being leaked to the press.
• People keep their phones on vibrate or silent during a wedding, why would people actually have them on?  And did you see that video played in unison on everyone’s phone.  Verizon must just be that good.
• Do that many adults seriously subscribe to Gossip Girl blasts?
• Dan lying to Serena about what Georgina said. Since when does he lie to Serena.
• Blair is not a doctor and does not have the ability to saves a life. Prayer does help in those type of situations though.
• Since when has Chuck tried to ruin Blair’s life when he has been on a path to better himself?
• As if Blair would be able to run from her own wedding? royal security would watch her like a hawk.  And she did it twice.  What up with that?
• Blair seriously calling her lapdog Dan, and not the love of her life Chuck.  Or asking Serena for help to escape?

Look how far we’ve come. Gossip Girl airs it’s 100th episode tonight and all the true Gossip Girl fans are excited for this huge milestone. Yes, this means our show can finally enter into syndication but there is so much more than that. We’ve watched 99 episodes of the show which means we’ve formed bonds with Serena, Blair, Chuck, Nate, Dan…and Jenny, Vanessa, Georgina, Lily and Rufus…and the numerous guest stars that have caused trouble in the UES.

We’ve lived every fight between Serena and Blair and have been cheering them on when they make up and become the friends they are really are meant to be. We’ve been through all of Serena’s horrible relationship choices and yelled many times at the television about Serena being so stupid…but only following her heart. We’ve watched an epic love story between Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf. The lying, the cheating, the manipulation may have upset us along the way but that makes the “I love yous” and the making up mean so much more. We’ve seen Nate transform (and not) throughout the five seasons of the show and have enjoyed his hook ups with every girl that he’s ever come across. Plus, Nate has been the voice of reason to almost everyone on the show. He’s provided us with the greatest example of friendship if you think about it. And Dan, from “lonely boy” to what? He’s certainly not that boy from season one anymore is he? From Serena to Georgina and now pining after Blair, Dan has become a guy that every girl would want to date (minus the hair and the his judgmental complex). But he’s still a really great guy.

Gossip Girl is apart of all of us fans and tonight is a very special night and we’ll all be watching. But just in case you didn’t know, Gossip Girl celebrates it’s 100th episode tonight on the CW at 8/7c. Are you ready for a royal wedding? What do you think will happen tonight? NATE THROWS A VALENTINE’S DAY BASH / ST. VINCENT PERFORMS — It’s Valentine’s Day on the Upper East Side and Blair (Leighton Meester) can’t resist playing cupid for someone she loves. Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) is intent on stirring up more drama, so she decides to crash Nate’s (Chace Crawford) Valentine’s Day party. Meanwhile, Serena (Blake Lively) is shocked by something she witnesses at the party. Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Kaylee DeFer, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. Matt Penn directed the episode written by Austin Winsberg (#515).

BLAIR STRUGGLES WITH A DECISION ABOUT HER FUTURE — Blair (Leighton Meester) must make a difficult decision about her future, the consequences of which could hurt those she loves most. Serena (Blake Lively) takes the blame for an incident with Gossip Girl in order to protect someone she loves. Today Mayor Mike Bloomberg was at Silvercup Studios in Long Island to announce that 2011 broke all records for television production in NYC and wanted to congratulate Gossip Girl on making it to 100 episodes.

“New York City’s television and film industry has become an increasingly vibrant and important sector of our economy, and we’re proud that homegrown shows like ‘Gossip Girl’ have enjoyed such success,” said Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Robert K. Steel. “Television and film supports jobs across a range of industries from fashion to food service to construction.”

Over the past five years, “Gossip Girl” spent $200 million on local development and employed approximately 6,300 individuals both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Last season, for example, the show hired more than 120 principal actors, 180 crew members and more than 7,000 background actors. The series has also used more than 500 local vendors, including a glass supplier in Soho, flowers from the Flatiron District, medical equipment set rentals from the Bronx, lumber and paint from Long Island City, props from a prop house in Harlem, bus rentals from Staten Island and office supplies from Williamsburg. “Gossip Girl” premiered on the CW on September 19, 2007, and will broadcast its milestone 100th episode on Monday, January 30, 2012, at 8:00 PM on The CW.

Despite receiving a 1.11 million in ratings this past Monday,( the initial ratings were a 1.57 but were adjusted down. ) Gossip Girl is inching closer to an all but official renewal

 It looks like “Gossip Girl” fans have two reasons to celebrate. The show is set to air its 100th episode on Monday (Jan. 30), and, according to producers, the series is all but certain to return for its sixth season.

“We’re not writing a series finale this year,” says EP Stephanie Savage.

This issue of whether the show would be renewed was an item that was up for debate. Ratings for The CW drama have dropped in recent years. While its first season in 2007 averaged 2.35 million viewers, Monday’s (Jan. 23) episode drew just 1.6 million viewers and a 0.8 share in the coveted 18-49 demographic.

But these dwindling viewership numbers appears to not be any deterrent for the network. Show EP Savage explains those discussions.

“We’ve checked in with our bosses to make sure we’re not shooting ourselves in the foot,” Savage says. She adds that these discussions usually end with network execs saying “Seriously. You have to stop asking me if you should be writing the series finale.”

While the network wouldn’t confirm the news, The CW president Mark Pedowitz tells the Hollywood Reporter on Jan. 25, “We have great pride in [the show]. We hope that it lasts for a long, long time. Time will tell how things go.”

It looks like they’re going well.

Ausiello: Oh, do I. There is a ginormous revelation during the episode that could go down as one of the show’s biggest, most jaw-dropping twists in history. And it’s not directly tied to the nuptials.

This week on Gossip Girl we learned it’s hard to know your true friends.  Serena is making a way for herself at  The Spectator until Nate makes a deal with Gossip Girl to find out the truth about Blair and Chuck’s accident.  We soon learn that Tripp did pay Max to drain the brake fluid, but Max left with the cash instead of completing his task.  So Tripp took matters in his own hands…and Serena’s not going to let Tripp get away with it this time.

Dan and Serena are still carrying on their fake romance and Serena is way into it, but Dan isn’t.  He’s too focused on the subject of his next book.  His fake romance with Serena is pretty much guaranteeing it’s going to be a sequel to Inside, which Dan doesn’t like.

Meanwhile, Blair is still battling with her feelings for Chuck on the day of her bachelorette party.  Blair wants to bring her own preist to be her spiritual leader to Monaco which would leave Father Cavalia. without a job.  Father Cavalia and Beatrice team up to take Blair down, but Beatrice has a change of heart and actually seems to start liking Blair.  But that’s only after Blair is arrested and all signs lead to Chuck, who everyone thinks is responsible for her arrest.  But Chuck is still trying to win Blair’s heart, but how can he do this if Blair thinks he was behind her arrest?

So Scandalous

• The Serena and Dan fauxmance continues. Serena’s totally in to it and Dan, not so much!
• Nate teaming up with Gossip Girl and “betraying” Serena along the way.
• Blair back in confessional. We haven’t seen this since the first season.
• Beatrice and Father Cavalia planning to sabotage Blair’s bachelorette party by getting her really drunk and alone with Chuck.
• Chuck spying on Blair at church…but not going in.  Chuck: “Of course not.  I didn’t want to risk blowing my cover or bursting into flames.”
• Nate and Serena setting Tripp up by using  Gossip Girl.
• Blair’s. Bachelorette.Party. Girl outside bar: “A priest in a bar? Kinky!”
• Chuck teaming up with the priest. Is he getting back into his old scheming ways?
• Max taking Tripp’s money without actually putting anyone in harm’s way.  Looks like he’s not really a bad guy.
• Carter Baizen wears women’s underwear. Blair: “I hope you have the urge to purge.  Those are secrets even Serena doesn’t know.”
• Tripp admitting he drained the break fluid. Tripp: “I wanted to ruin your weekend, not your life.”
• Blair getting completely wasted at her bachelorette party…and getting arrested for not smoking a doobie.
• Beatrice and Dan blaming Blair’s mishaps on Chuck.
• Nate finally standing up to Grandpapa by blaming him to what happened between Nate and Tripp.
• Serena lying to Dan about Blair wanting them to stay together until the wedding.

So Sweet

• Nate and Chuck still bond after all of these years.
• Blair and Beatrice bonding.  Will they finally be able to get along and become family?
• Serena’s finally making a name for herself at The Spectator and writing something people actually want to read.  Could there be a future for her in writing? Dan: “I never thought I would read something by Serena van der Woodsen that would make me laugh out loud…”
• Chuck helping an old man walk across the street while he was spying on Blair.
• Beatrice having a change of heart for Blair and not wanting to mess up her relationship with Louis.  Can you believe that Beatrice bought all those phones off those people?
• Chuck is not giving up on Blair, and just made Serena realize she does not want to give up on Dan. Chuck: “Tell her I stopped by and I’m not done.  The one thing I learned from Blair is you don’t give up on the people you love.”
• BFF bonding time, it’s so good to see Blair and Serena bonding.
• Beatrice finally realizing that Father Cavalia won’t leave the church for her, so she breaks up with him. Girl power!

So Not Real

• Blair revealing names in confessional. Someone else could always be listening.
• Blair really letting Beatrice plan her party. Blair is a control freak and would never let that happen. Plus, Blair would not want to put herself in a bad light since she will be a princess next week.
• Blair keeps a dairy. She would never write all of her scandalous secrets down.
• Blair: “I’ve never been so happy to be surrounded by so many bridge and tunnel type.” Blair would never be caught dead with these people.
• Dan thinking someone would actually be interested in a modern western after he wrote Inside.  What was he thinking? Understand he wants to expand his horizons but they were right. Publishers: “Then go take a yoga class.”
• Blair really having her party without Serena, especially since Serena planned that awesome bridal shower for Blair.  She wouldn’t pass up a great bachelorette party.
• Blair bearing her soul to Beatrice about loving Chuck and Louis.  Blair: “There are some people you can love only by not being with them.”
• Blair would never allow herself to get that trashed in public. Blair: “Sorry to disappoint, this won’t be it-girls gone wild.”
• Serena sending Trip to jail but did not want to send Juliet to jail.
• Beatrice actually thinking that Father Cavalia would leave the church for her…after they have gone through all of this scheming and uber nonreligious activities.  Should Father Cavalia even be a priest?
• Louis leaving his wedding vows in Blair’s room for her to find. Blair: “It’s like he peered into my soul.” And the fact that Dan even wrote them.  Dan would have found that to be something completely personal and wouldn’t have wanted to write them.

The show returns tonight! Executive producer Josh Safran shares this tease on the episode: “It’s obviously a culmination of the Blair storyline and all her men and that will come to a head. A decision will be made and stuck to, so that finally sort of drawing a line in the sand I think is something major to look forward to.” Hear that? Whatever decision she makes tonight will be “stuck to” according to Safran, so maybe Blair’s romantic fate becomes clear tonight? Maybe?

Question: So if I’m to understand this week’s Gossip Girl correctly, the new man to come between Chuck and Blair is… God? —Aram
Ausiello: Yes, and exec producer Josh Safran is here with an explanation. “Religion has [always] been a part of Blair’s life,” he argues. “She went to confession as far back as Season 1. Even though she didn’t fully believe in it, she was there. We really did believe, especially in light of what has happened to Blair after the accident, that she feels even more strongly about this connection and this pull. It’s something that we’re not shying away from. It’s something that we will delve into in future episodes.” Safran concedes that the heavenly roadblock “is definitely a different thing in our show. But we believe in it, and we believe that this is where Blair is right now. Belief is a very personal thing, and it’s also very monumental. We’re not treating it lightly.”

Question: Serena is starting to feel like a guest star on Gossip Girl. What gives? —Emily
Ausiello: That’s pretty much the question I posed to Safran. “If you feel like Serena has been lighter this year it’s honestly just where the story has taken us,” he tells me. “Last season was very much about Serena. That was the way we sort of looked at it. She had Juliet last year and that was the big driving story. This year we gave Blair the big driving story. And next season — if there is a next season — I would imagine the driving story, should it be the last season, will be the two of them and their friendship.”

Uncle Jack is back!

Desmond Harrington has inked a deal to reprise his role as Chuck’s duplicitous Uncle Jack on Gossip Girl later this season, executive producer Josh Safran confirms to TVLine exclusively.

The Dexter regular made a cameo of sorts in Gossip Girl‘s fall finale when Jack’s voice was heard on the other end of a phone conversation with Liz Hurley’s Diana. This time, he’ll be returning in the flesh — and it sounds like he’ll be sticking around.

“He’ll be back for the last third of the season,” Safran reveals. “When Jack returns, he and Chuck are on good terms. Their story is more of a fun story than an antagonistic story. It’s really twisty and comic. And there might be some secrets that Jack will help Chuck to uncover.”

Gossip Girl returns from its holiday hiatus next Monday.

GOSSIP GIRL HITS 100 EPISODES! — The much-anticipated 100th episode will open with a musical dream sequence featuring Serena (Blake Lively), Blair (Leighton Meester) and all the men in their lives (Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Hugo Becker). Also, while Chuck (Ed Westwick) wrestles with the reality that Blair is about to walk down the aisle with Prince Louis (guest star Hugo Becker), the return of Georgina Sparks (guest star Michelle Trachtenberg) might make the royal affair a royal disaster. Gossip Girl sources tell me Billy Baldwin is returning to the CW series, reprising his role as Serena’s (Blake Lively) father, William Van Der Woodson.

So when will we see him again and why?

Baldwin will return to the series in episode 17 of the current fifth season, set to air sometime in February. Details are under wraps, but we can tell you that “a crisis brings him back into the fold.”

And of course, we’re guessing Rufus is expected to be none too pleased. Lily-Rufus fans, get ready to pounce!

More About The Band:

In just a year or so, soulsters Fitz & the Tantrums went from the living room to the main stage. The recipe for meteoric success? Six killer musicians, five dapper suits, irresistible songs, some serendipity and one vintage organ.

Since their first show at Hollywood’s Hotel Café in December 2008, Fitz and co. have toured with Maroon 5, played to thousands at Colorado’s world famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre, shared the stage New Year’s Eve with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and performed on KCRW’s esteemed show, Morning Becomes Eclectic, all this on the strength of their stellar five-song EP, Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1.

For some bands, it takes a lifetime to build this success, but few performers deliver an unrestrained blast of soul-clapping, get-down-on-the-floor, moneymaker shakers like Fitz and the Tantrums. Now post-release of their debut full length, Pickin’ Up the Pieces, which has since earned them a 3 ½ star album review in ROLLING STONE, the troupe is poised to get down in dancehalls across the universe.

It all began when… [cue flashback sounds]

“I got a call from my ex-girlfriend,” Fitz explains, “And she said, ‘My neighbor is moving out in a hurry and has to sell everything. And, he has this organ…”

Fitz, the Svengali frontman of the crew, describes the find like the discovery of a compass, or that treasure map in Goonies, which undoubtedly leads to adventure. Not one to say no, Fitz called some piano movers, cashed in some favors, and seven hours later, the organ went from the curb to his living room. That night, Fitz stationed himself in front of that vintage instrument and wrote a blue-eyed soul anthem, “Breaking the Chains of Love.”

“Sometimes, the Music Gods just give it to you,” Fitz says.

The overflow of inspiration startled Fitz. He’d spent years in L.A.’s music industry, writing music and working in a studio with Beck producer, Mickey Petralia. But at those 88 keys, just seven hours after that organ dropped into his life, Fitz had finally found his voice.

“I’ve always been a singer,” Fitz says, “but with so much music, I felt that I was trying to push a square peg through a round hole. I was being not true to myself, and it never felt right until I wrote that song, and I sang like that. I thought, this feels so real, so natural.”

Fitz shared his vision with long-time friend and saxophonist, James King, who immediately connected with the sound. While the electric guitar drives rock, the saxophone takes center stage in soul, and that’s the way Fitz likes it. “We wanted to find a new vocabulary for the genre, I wanted to make a record without any guitars. Could we make a huge sound with out any guitars?”

A huge sound takes a huge studio–Motown had Studio A in Detroit, Philadelphia International had Sigma Studios, Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound was created in Hollywood’s legendary Gold Star Studios– but when it came time to capture the feeling and the soul of soul, Fitz knew of the perfect studio: his home.

There in the living room, he recorded Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1, a burst of effervescent swingers and floor-stompers, infused with the energy of long forgotten songs. The infectious, rolling rhythms of “Breaking the Chains of Love,” immediately turns your head and actually get cemented in your brain, like a good pop song should.

The sound is familiar, but distinct. That’s what grabbed the attention of Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. Levine was getting a tattoo in New York when the tattoo artist told him he had to hear this new band he had discovered. After that one encounter, Levine personally invited Fitz and the Tantrums to join their tour.

Like the EP, Fitz recorded the full-length debut back at home, to bottle the lightning that struck in those first jam sessions. He now delves into more acerbic lyrical territory, going on the offensive against gold diggers on the exceptionally funky “MoneyGrabber,” and even gets political on the piano-banging, handclap-driven call to action, “Dear Mr. President.” “L.O.V.” is a jaunt through pop music history embarking with a groovy organ intro, meandering through juicy big band breakdowns and Fitz’s svelte croons, then carrying us away with flute outro. It’s a funk-filled plea to give love a chance. These powerful songs take the band’s energy up a notch, but like their energized performances, they never loose control.

Those blistering performances are now well-chronicled for adequate ubiquity, Last Call With Carson Daly nailing the money shot for “MoneyGrabber” at the band’s sold out show in November at LA’s El Rey Theatre featuring a sea of a thousand pogoing fans and a handful of F.A.T.T. gems rocked along with blue-eyed soul vet, Daryl Hall on the band’s spot on Live From Daryl’s House. Lest we forget, an omnipresent T-Mobile HTC ad that actually namechecks the band that, for the past several months, is impossible not to see if you’re watching even an hour’s worth of television. Oh, and there are the hot spots on Criminal Minds, Desperate Housewives and a great many more, not to mention a ton of success at radio for the aforementioned runaway “MoneyGrabber,” all with the promise of more to come.

In their sound and on the stage, Fitz and the Tantrums are nothing but professionals, and never less than classy. Enter the Tantrums, Fitz’s airtight ensemble keeping it real like it’s 1969. Funky drummer John Wicks is a Motown B-side aficionado and prolific session player, Jeremy Ruzumna manned the keyboards and was musical director for Macy Gray. James King backed De La Soul and bassist Joseph Karnes is a well sought after session player. Then there’s Noelle Scaggs, the powerful voice behind Fitz’s croons. Make no mistake, Scaggs is not just there for “doo-wops” and handclaps. She shimmies and flirts, she stokes the crowd and simmers them down, and she has no qualms about keeping Fitz in check. “She is not just a backup singer,” Fitz says, “We have repartee. Onstage, we’re Ike and Tina.”

There, on the stage, Fitz and the Tantrums are not just a band, they’re an explosion. Scaggs high steps it to the tight-as-hell rhythm section, while Fitz, cooler than cobalt, croons like the aforementioned Mr. Hall for a new generation. It’s obvious that this is no tryst for the band, this is a full-blown, head-over-heels love affair.
