I think this was a pretty good episode, but I was distracted by those ridiculous shoulder pads on Serena the whole episode. I like where they are taking this Tripp/Serena thing … I think she’s an idiot for sleeping with a married guy, but it’s very OMG, which Gossip Girl needs.
I also enjoy the “crush” Dan is developing for Vanessa; we need some cat and mouse this season, now that Chuck and Blair have worked it all out. The re-worked Snow White was so well done, it was hilarious, and worked into the love triangle story really well. Once again, Chuck Bass, voice of reason … that’s just going to take some getting used to. But does saving Jenny mean he’s even for attempted date-raping her in the pilot? I’m not really up on the good-deed vs. bad-deed scoring system.
The episode was a bit “slow” but I feel like it is setting up some great Thanksgiving drama for next week … sadly I’ll be on my honeymoon in Paris so I have to miss that episode! (Well I’m not really sad about getting married, or honeymooning in Paris, but still.)
Plus, as a huge Lady GaGa fan, the orgasm of Gossip Girl and GaGa that happened to my television was very exciting!
I give it 3.9 Blair-faced magic platinum records out of 5.
Finally, after knowing about the six week hiatus since the information came out, my sister who i was watching it with, FINALLY started freaking out about it after watching the episode because it was so good. Everyone else i talked to about it also loved the episode, personally, I think these past two episodes have been a definite high for season two, with hopefully more like these to come.
My favourite storyline of the episode was probably Serena’s, which is weird because i haven’t enjoyed watching her for a while now. i loved how this episode was kind of the starting of those relationship that a lot of people wanted to happen in season one. (Nate, Serena and Vanessa, Dan). Although, I’m not really a fan of either of those couples, but it would be interesting to watch.
Chuck protecting Jenny was sooo cute, but i really hope Jenny doesn’t go down the druggy road, even though Chuck and Nate went through the same thing, we didn’t have to see raccoon eyes, which I’m guessing would go with the whole druggy-Jenny-period. Also, what happened to Kevin Zegers? He was so much better looking in Transamerica….I would give the episode 4.49 Blair blackmail’s out of ten.
Woops, i mean out of five. Not ten.
I liked this episode, though it was sort of slow-moving but it still kept my eyes on the computer. Serena’s storyline was interesting to watch, but I still don’t really like seeing her with Trip, they just don’t match as a couple aesthetically…And I have to say Serena’s really dumb getting involved with a married congressman, Trip and Serena should both stay away from each other. After all, Trip is the one that said he wants to be the best congressman his district’s ever had and that he’s the honest man in the family, infidelity isn’t exactly on top of the ‘honesty list’.
And I actually didn’t hate seeing Vanessa in this episode. The Jenny and Chuck side-story was cute to watch, Chuck’s actually becoming a good person….that’s different to watch, but I guess that’s how he’ll be for now, at least I hope that it’s temporary.
I also loved the ‘Snow White’ play, it was hilarious, especially the dwarfs
Oh and the Lady Gaga performance….was okay.
I rate this episode 4.02 dinghy drug deals out of 5 =>
This was my favorite episode of this season and I’m not even sure why. Maybe it was because we actually got some Serena/Nate and Dan/Vanessa continuity. It wasn’t because of Lady Gaga, even though I’m a huge fan and loved her guest performance.
I hope Serena and Nate finally get together since it has been hinted at since the first episode and hasn’t gone anywhere. I think it would be very entertaining to see Dan pine over Vanessa for a change. I am so for Jenny going crazy with Damien, if only to see Chuck as her protector. It is so weird and so perfect at the same time. The only thing missing from this episode (and this whole season) was some good Chuck/Blair action. I also have to mention that Blair totally wore tights as pants.
I give this episode 4.76 poison apple cocktails out of 5.
I picked that I was stuck in the middle for this episode. I thought it was great, but the whole Serena-Nate-Tripp storyline ruined it for me. Seriously, why do the writers insist on making her such a dumb character. Oh Nate help me so I don’t sleep with a married man – your cousin – a newly elected congressman. Really!! Serena used to be the best part of the show for me. And does she really have to get back together with Nate. I think the writers made such a mistake the first 2 seasons by having almost every combination of the main stars getting together (except a Blair and Dan scenario, which if that happens, I quit!) Now when they revisit these couples, I am so tired of it. I feel like they have gone through 5 or 6 seasons worth of plot in 2 seasons.
Stupidest line of the night – Serena: “I haven’t felt this way about someone in years.” If I had a dime everytime she said that …
I give the episode 3.5 Serena love affairs out of 5.
