So basically, I’m just going to discuss some of the topics/questions that Angela, Missy and Dave brought up on last week’s podcast!
Which Gossip Girl star will have a lucrative career after the show ends? Which star will not be successful?
I think Ed will have the most successful career after Gossip Girl. People have really taken to Ed & he’s an amazing actor and is a really diverse in his roles. He’s going to be Healthcliff in ‘Wuthering Heights’ and I think it’ll take lots of people by surprise. Leighton will do well too. She was in 24, Veronica Mars and Entourage so I think she’ll have a good career. As for Chace Crawford, I think he has some amazing good looks which could take him far. I know he’s not a very good actor in the show by any means but if he took some acting lessons & manages to be good in ‘Footloose’, he might have a lucrative career. I think with ‘Twelve’, if he does it well, he might be able to prove that he can act. He really is usually a pretty face (which I have no problem with, I could look at him all day) but he’ll need to do really well with ‘Footloose’ to succeed outside of GG. Moving on to Taylor Momsen, I think she’s a very talented actress & singer/performer so she will be successful. She’s only young but she seems very dedicated to her work while having an amazing amount of talent.
Which star will not be successful?
I think GG could be the death of Penn & Blake. I don’t know why, I just have that feeling. I guess they were given characters that are really boring & aren’t given much to work with. The only time I feel like I’ve seen Serena/Blake acting well is with the whole ‘I killed someone’ thing. I wasn’t a fan of her in ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ either. She was probably my least favourite actor/character in the film. Anyway, to be honest, I’ve never understood the appeal of Blake. She’s not like, an ~amazing~ actress. She’s the female version of Chace Crawford.
Ugh, moving on to Penn.. I’m sorry but he is not my kind of person/actor. The only thing that I saw that I liked him in was ‘John Tucker Must Die!’, only because I loved the movie so much! I don’t like actors that think they can always do better than what they have & put down the character they’re playing/the show they’re on. He does have his cute moments though.
As for Jessica Szhor, I haven’t seen any other work of hers other than Gossip Girl so I feel it’ll be unfair to judge her based on Vanessa. Pirahna 3D sounds terrible, not my kind of movie, although Jessica/Vanessa is growing on me. If she gets a better role in a movie, I’d watch.
Which GG cast sideproject are you most looking forward to?
I am really excited for “Footlose”! I have to admit I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one and this version is going to be directed by Kenny Ortega! I think it’s going to do well. I’m also looking forward to “The Roommate”, mainly because of the cast. I’m not usually into “horror/thriller” movies but I love Cam Gigandet, Leighton & Minka Kelly so I think it’ll be a good movie! Even if it’s not, it’ll have some good eye candy! Although I haven’t read “Wuthering Heights”, I look forward to seeing Ed in the movie. I’ll pretty much see anything that he’s in!

2. Who had the strongest career before Gossip Girl? Leighton
3. Who will benefit the greatest from being on Gossip Girl? Ed – honestly, who knew he existed before GG?
4. Who has done the least since starting on Gossip Girl? Ed. He had a guest appearance on Californication, one movie & is doing another this year. IDK, I think he’s focusing on GG for now but once it’s over, he’ll do well in movies. Probably British ones, more than American. He’d do well in Australia too, I think. The girls here love him
