Vanessa finally has a mom! Not that she didn’t have one before, but we finally get to meet her now. In TGAD’s poll, 86% of readers/listeners said they wanted to meet Vanessa’s mom and now you finally will. Gina Torres will star as Gabriella Abrams and this lady has made her rounds on the small screen. She’s been in shows like Firefly, Alias, 24, The Shield and much more. But now she will be joining the cast of Gossip Girl to stir up to scandal (we hope!).
Gabriela Abrams, mother to home-schooled vid-kid Vanessa, is described as being warm and outgoing, which will certainly be a change of pace for this show, not exactly known as the paragon of parental virtue. She is a free spirit, a former Brooklynite who lives “off the grid” in Vermont and has definite opinions about things, especially concerning her daughter. Ah, that’s more like it.
Torres is scheduled for two episodes, but has the possibility of becoming a reoccurring character for season three.
