Blair and Dan have finally made the hook up and the producers have called that kiss four seasons in the making. But do we already know the outcome of Dair before it’s even really started? There have been plenty of juicy spoilers lately and simply put, it doesn’t look good for Dair.
A couple of days ago, The CW released the Midnight Promo that introduced a new theme: The Pauper, The Prince and The Dark Knight. But did you notice something was missing from this promo? Where was The Pauper? Dan was barely in this promo and the spoilers coming out are leaning toward The Dark Knight and The Prince having to fight for Blair’s affections, not Dan! Is this foreshadowing what is to come at the end of the season?
It’s pretty apparent that end game should be Chuck and Blair, so a hot and heavy relationship between Blair and Dan wouldn’t really last long. But wouldn’t we like it to last longer than a minute? People are expressing this same sentiment on twitter too. It’s sad that something most fans thought they would hate, they have come to love. Dan and Blair might not be the end game, but they are a nice stop on road to the big show.
Josh Schwartz recently asked for his twitter back because he was receiving so many complaints from fans about Dair. But my question to all of those fans is, do you really want Chuck and Blair together all the time? This break that Chuck and Blair have had has allowed the characters to grow and explore other parts of themselves. When Chuck and Blair were together, they seemed liked zombie versions of themselves and it kind of brought the show down. Blair lost her vivaciousness and Chuck lost “Chuck Bass”. Hasn’t it been worth it to see them be apart and still maintain that Chuck and Blair dynamic? Chuck and Blair are an EPIC television couple, but even those couples need to take a break.
Plus, Blair and Dan taking a trip into relationship land isn’t a bad thing. Chuck has been having lots of fun with Eva and Raina…and probably some twins along the way. Why can’t Blair enjoy what’s out there for her too? We must remember in Paris, Blair decided she couldn’t go with Prince Louise because she wasn’t ready. Now she’s ready to move on and maybe, just maybe, a Dair relationship is good for Blair because she can finally decide what works for her and what doesn’t. This will help her navigate the waters of a relationship with Chuck that will last instead of being an intermittent thing. But Dair deserves a chance to grow and flesh out the story a little so there can be something that comes from it and not just a couple lines of dialogue in passing moments.
With that being said, here is a video of Dair (and it might contain some spoilers):
