Missy’s Episode #9 Review: Flirtations, Threesomes, and Cotillions-oh my!
Hey Everyone!
Well since I can’t be on tonight’s podcast (Happy Birthday Tyson!) I figured I would share with you my thoughts and feelings on last night’s episode #9, They Shoot Humphreys, Don’t They? Afterall, I can’t go a week without dishing on what I loved and hated about our favorite show.
First let me say that I voted straight up stuck in the middle for my first impression. As I watched I was half loving/hating what I was seeing and by the end I just couldn’t wrap my feelings around the episode. Maybe by the end of this post I’ll know what to rate it at least:) So let’s get down to business, I’ll break down my thoughts according to the storylines.
Let’s start with Serena and Tripp and a love affair to remember. First off she’s had a crush on him for awhile? Huh?! Are you kidding me? First off, let’s be straight, Tripp ain’t cute. I mean he’s okay but seriously, he’s no JFK Jr. Secondly, she needed to zip up that jacket when she was talking to him cause I think her boobs were distracting him from his thoughts. Third, come on Serena. She CAN’T be that naive. I mean, she’s hot and nice, of course he hired her. But um, hello, he is MARRIED! By the last convo they were having I was so disappointed that Blair hadn’t dragged her away. My main feelings on this is please, please, please, please don’t let them hook up. If she wants into the family then go find Nate. End of discussion. And while we are on the Serena topic we can briefly discuss her and Blair and the make-up in the elevator. THANK GOD. I’m glad they are friends again, though who didn’t see that happening? The stupid non-fight fight is over. Serena told Blair about her daddy issues (which she should have done a gazillion episodes ago) and Blair and her made nice. Note to writers: please don’t do this storyline again. It not only gives me a headache but has us all scratching our heads when we don’t get why they were fighting in the first place. Thank you!
Ok now let’s talk about the Jenny-Eric-Blair-cotillion affair. First off, those gloves or half gloves that Jenny wore to cotillion were fugly. I mean I know she’s all hard core but come on. Once I managed to take my eyes off the fashion no-no I focused in on the fact that I was really hoping Blair would be able to help put Jenny in her place. But no, Nate to the rescue. I mean hello, why was Nate even sticking around that damn cotillion? But besides that, I can’t believe it was such a score to get him to be her escort. When is his “hot” factor or whatever going to run out with that crowd? I get he was the college guy but come on. Maybe its my totally hating Jenny bias here but I wanted to see her crumble and go down. I’m all for Jenny the queen, but either be mean or be nice, don’t be both. And she was dumb to think that Eric was going to be her friend after all that shiznit. Speaking of poor Eric, he let his Jenny hatred break him and Jonathon up. Oh well, now more time for him to scheme to bring Jenny down, and I want to see it happen. Who honestly believed that once Jenny “came out” that everyone would forget where she came from? We’ll see how that goes. I was so excited to see Jenny be queen but she’s become a poor man’s version of the old Blair. And honestly, I’d rather see Blair rule then Jenny.
Finally let’s talk the threesome heard around the world. First, the whole way they set it up was a little, um, dumb. Sorry but the whole let’s experience college list was weird. The list made no sense since it contained specific things to do all around the NYU area (beer pong at one bar, fountain dancing, etc.) and then the FINAL THING was oh just to have a threesome. Got to say though I loved, loved, loved how Olivia was the one to get the ball rolling. I think its going to bite her in the arse next week though when Vanessa can finally do a happy dance that she made it with Dan and Dan scractches his head at all the drama that this night in the sheets has caused. But in all I like how we didn’t actually see them do more than kiss. I hear we get more visuals next week, but honestly I can do without all that. I get it. They did it. All three of them. Together. I don’t need pictures. Here’s hoping though that Vanessa’s hair looked better during the deed then leading up to it though.
I could talk old people but I won’t. I’m sure the letter Lily got will bring some drama with Serena’s daddy. Let’s just wait on that okay? And Chuck and Nate didn’t do much but show up in the episode, though I must say Chuck, what exactly went on during that Lost weekend hmmm?
Favorite quote(s): “Oh E. You tried to play dirty, but you should have known. No one puts Jenny in a corner. And now she’s having the time of her life.”
“Jenny Humphrey went to a ball. Jenny Humphrey had a great fall. And none of Jenny Humphrey’s minions, mentors, or friends want to put her together again.”
I LOVED Gossip Girl this episode, can you tell?
Rating: 4.03 lost weekends with Chuck as your guide out of 5.
So I guess I’m not so stuck in the middle after all. Cotillion, taking down a queen (or at least trying) and resolving a friend fight make me love the episode.
Now what did YOU think of the episode? Leave us a comment! See you next week:)

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts as we see more of Serena/Trip…but MORE IMPORTANTLY SERENATE!
