There was prostitution on election night in 3×08 – The Grandfather Part II and Serena finally realized that she was indeed prostituting herself for her job. At the end of the episode, Gossip Girl said:

Sometimes it’s hard to see the lines we’ve drawn until we’ve crossed them. That’s when we rely on the ones we love to pull us back and give us something to hold onto. Then there are the clearly marked lines. The ones that if you dare cross, you may never find your way back.

Most of this was pointed at Serena and Trip! So do you think something is brewing between Serena and Trip? Will it have lasting effects?

    Yes, I think there could really be something!
    It was also Tripp who invited her to that party and once he finds out that his wife had planed that thing with the guy in the Hudson, there will be some trouble. After all, Tripp isn’t that old and the two of them have chemistry. I think something could come out from there, but it won’t be long lasting.

    Yes and I don’t like it. I think this will take Serena down an even more slipper slope than the one she’s already on. If they start something eventually it will come out and the media will have a field day labeling Serena as a homewrecker. I’m not liking the direction the show is taling Serena this season, I think she needs to ge back on track pronto!

    I am pretty sure that this Serena/ Tripp scandal will occur, but knowing Gossip Girl the whole storyline could just be dropped off without any mention of it ever again. I wouldn’t mind seeing this for a few episodes; I really just want to see how it all plays out if Nate gets involved. Though, for some reason I really like Maureen, Tripp’s wife. Overall, this plot seems semi-interesting.

    I’m actually hoping for a Serana sandwich involving Tripp and Nate – however the way the writing has been going (with everyone being so “nice”) Tripp and Serena will probably have an innocent friendship which will be misread as an affair by Maureen.

    I think now that we’ve seen episode 9 it’s totally obvious they are going to sleep together. We know this because Tripp’s excuse for hiring her was because “I think you’re smart …” which we all know isn’t true, since Serena has the intellect of a bag of marshmellows. Also, they decided to “keep it professional” and then 3.4 seconds later Tripp is touching her hand and arm inappropriately. He obviously has no control over himself, whatsoever, married or not.

    It’s only a matter of time (or two episodes) until the awkward interns come in early to find Tripp and Serena waking up on that couch from a night of even more inappropriate touching.
